Emily Kim

Emily

Since graduating from college last century, I've served in ministries to college students, children, the elderly, and youth. My heart has always been for young adults and youth, especially because I had really needed some mentors during my youth years when I went through a time of questioning God, my faith, and the meaning of life. I even became a high school English teacher hoping to “make a difference” (plus, I had a highly practical degree in English literature). A few years ago, after about 15 years of teaching, I became our church librarian and left the classroom with a vision to start a library full of great books for the kids and the adult kids at our church, and to cultivate the love of reading in our increasingly digital world.

Since 2018, I’ve been serving full-time in our middle school ministry. I get to spend my time raising up the next generation to be confident and passionate for Jesus and the gospel. And I get to have a lot of wacky fun besides!

Meyers Briggs: After all these years, the results are still inconclusive

Likes: Some call me a nerd, but I prefer the term life-long learner! I’m always curious to learn new things, whether it’s your story, or how to play the accordion. I’m a bibliophile in recovery for a book buying addiction, but I might now have a slight podcast addiction. I’m also an Oakland A’s fan for life, even if we never make it past the first round of playoffs. If you want a good book recommendation, let me know. One of my greatest joys is matching someone with the perfect book, you know, that one book that "changes your life"...other than the Bible, of course!
